Clam Jammers
Location: 294 Great Island Road, Narragansett, Rhode Island (right next to the ferry dock)
Description: Clam Jammers is a restaurant, bar and nightclub. They serve lunch and dinner 7 days a week and breakfast Thursdays through Sundays. They are right on water and have indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant speciality is obviously seafood. In regards to its size at night, when serving as a bar/nightclub, the extra space on the deck certainly comes in handy with how crowded it can become on URI nights. So far this school year, Wednesday's have been the designated night of attendance for URI students. On these nights the bar becomes so crowded that by closing time it's difficult to move through the crowd. (Although this is common for bars on designated URI nights.) I've also been there on other nights of the week, where there is still a good crowd but it's certainly not as crowded and a bit more comfortable for the common costumer. There is one large wrap around bar on the inside and they have it fully staffed with multiple bartenders to the drink wait doesn't upset customers.
Entertainment: On non-URI nights they play music on a sound system. However, on URI nights (Wednesdays) so far this year Clam Jammers has hired popular local DJ's who also attend URI to please the crowd. Once everyone's gotten a drink in them, dancing really picks up.
Known Drink: Clam Jammers is known for its famous house strawberry lemonade, which I am personally a big fan of.
Dress code: There isn't a guideline exactly for dress code in attendance of this bar, you won't be turned down at the door for being dressed too casually. However, we here at URI (mostly ladies) take every advantage of getting dressed up for nights out.
My favorite part: My favorite part of Clam Jammers is the layout. I enjoy that it's not too big or too small. Plus it has a wrap around deck over looking the water. (Granted there is a bit of a fishy smell out by the dock.)
Service: On a 1-10 scale with, 10 being the highest I would rate the service as an 8. There have been times I've waited up to ten minutes for a drink and other times where I have been served immediately.
I think you chose a great topic for your blog. I like how you broke down the entry to give a great description of what the location will be like. There are so many places to go out in RI and I think that it is great you are bringing awareness of them on your blog.
ReplyDeleteYour description gave a lot of information to the reader on where you were from and what you used to do for fun in previous years compared to recent years. Your description of the blog was in your about me and I think that it is a very good idea. It also seems very helpful for people not from the area looking for places to go. I think the first post was good seeing how it was a place that not many people know about.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your about me. It gave a good description of who you are and why your blogging about RI nightlife. I too am in my senior year and agree that before your 21 the nightlife in RI is not fun. You should add a description underneath your title that sums up what your blog is about. I like how you divided your post into the description, entertainment, known drink, dress code, your favorite part, and the service. All these parts are important to know when choosing a bar to go to. I think it will be interesting to see what other bars you will be posting about.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great blog and I am sure your having fun writing it! Your about me is really good because it explains to the reader that you are a real student at URI and really know the nightlife here. I liked your review of Clam Jammers, I could tell you really analyzed the bar when you were there last. I look forward to more posts!
